Great Week in Texas Country
This week was a great week for Texas country music. On Tuesday February 16, the Josh Abbott Band released their new album “Shes Like Texas”. This has been a long awaited album since the release of “Scapegoat” in September of 2008. I can only label the new album with a few words and that is “simply amazing”. The sound is very different from a lot of their earlier stuff. The band seemed to steer away from the harder rock vibe and really exaggerate the southern sound with some extensive fiddle playing by Patrick Wait. Every song just compliments the next. A very well put together album. The single for the album “All of a Sudden”, has done very well on the Texas Music chart after debuting on 98.1 Kvet at Hills Cafe as part of the Texas Roadhouse Series. The Josh Abbott band gained great publicity for their song “Taste”. For those who have not heard it, this is a song loaded with sexual innuendos that has really made a name for the band. A great addition to the new album is the sequel to Taste. The new song is called “Hot Shower”, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this song getting a lot of air time if the radio can handle it. Some of the guest appearances on the album include that of Kasey Musgraves, Trent Willmon and a personal favorite of mine Mr. Roger Creager. Overall this is a great album so I definitely give a tip of the hat to Josh and the boys for keepin it goin. The album is available on iTunes as well as places like Hastings and Best Buy for right around 10 dollars. For those who will be in Austin on February 19, the Josh Abbott band will be playing at Midnight Rodeo so you can expect to hear a lot of the songs off the new album. Well thanks for stoppin in and if you get a chance go pick up the album, you wont regret it. See y’all!
