Introductory Post

As you might have seen in my profile, I am a guitar player from Austin Texas. Blogging is very new to me but I feel this is a great way to spread the word of the “Red Dirt” nation. What I hope to achieve through blogging is the sharing of pictures videos and reviews of great artists here in Texas, in hopes of boosting the awareness of whats going on, not only to fellow Texans but to people all across the world. When I was 15 years old I went to my first live country concert at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels Texas to see Austin’s great Corry Morrow. From then on I was hooked and knew there was something to be said for Texas country music and I without a doubt want to be part of it.

Over our past few classes for Social Media at Work, we have seen how the internet has evolved over the past decade to become what it is today. Without this great achievement in technology many of the great up and coming artists would not be where they are. Through the use of the computers and the internet, artists can now market themselves and spread their work  at a much quicker and affordable rate than in years past.

  1. Nice job on the post. I love the topic of your blog! Now, you need to add some content to your About page, add additional pages…

  2. Matt! I was googling nutty brown pictures to see if there were any pics of me and my sister jammin’ at the Rockabilly Revival and your face popped up! How funny, and awesome. Guess we have more in common than work. Looking to see when Stoney Larue is playin’ at Nutty Brown. I met him 2 weeks ago at Gruene Hall. Nice guy, just walked right up and started talkin. Seems there is a lot I don’t know about you. Looking forward to reading the blog. See you at the sto. Peace, Apes.

  3. Ok so I just read your post and I love it because my story is the same! I saw Two Tons of Steel at Gruene Hall, loved it, loved them and now I’m hooked. I love KVET’s Roadhouse in the evenings. They are all about Texas country and artists. I have been going to see this guy named Weldon Henson for free at The Broken Spoke since January. Really nice guy, great band and they played for tips in the dining room, then played the dancehall and I just heard him on KVET’s Roadhouse the other night. I was so proud! I really felt like I was part of that. Supporting local artist. It’s fun, and you get to know them as people. Hanging out and joking with them after the show is the icing on cake after dancing the night away.
